Avulsion Fracture

You have an avulsion fracture.  Avulsion fractures are chips of bone pulled off by muscle tendons or ligaments.  Common avulsion fractures are on the hand and foot.  Avulsion fractures can also involve the elbow, knee, hip and pelvis.  These fractures may cause a deformity if the growth plate of the bone is involved in growing children.

More specifically, this one involves the hand, and my biggest question is.. is a couple of weeks from 18 still considered a growing child?

What does an avulsion fracture look like?
