I thought I would have more time to update posts......

Last post said we had covered New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, And Missouri.  I thought I would have time to post that we then covered Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and ended in Ohio.

Does anyone out there know where Brown County, Ohio is?  I do, NOW..... and I will be writing letters an sending packages to an address there for a while.  Maybe a very long while, we will just have to wait and see.

Yesterday, we unloaded a Uhaul truck and trailer and caught some ZZZZZZ's.  Today, slept in, unloaded a few more things out of the truck, started cleaning cabinets and decided we needed a break.  We girls went out exploring.  We found the local ice cream shop where I still am not sure I understand what a double scoop soda is and apparently am not smart enough to figure out.  We saw an example that shows that Abby really doesn't NEED a car here no matter how rural it is.

And Then, we saw a couple roll up to the restaurant we went to for dinner in their golf cart even though there didn't SEEM to be a golf car anywhere near by.

We also found the cutest quilting shop run by a lady who assured me that she would look over Abby's sewing machine, and would teach her to sew.  She chose her first sewing projects and found out that they do quilting classes at the Nazarene church on Thrusday nights as well as the classes that are at the store.

We went to see Ulysses S. Grants boyhood home and find out how badly he hated tanning hides, the family business.  We were welcomed by everyone we encountered and have found some of the friendliest people I could ask to send my kids off so far to live with.
We found out the difference between City, Town and Country living.
So what I can say so far is Welcome to Ohio.

God Works in Mysterious Ways

What a week we have had.  To be honest, it has been a very hectic time since May, or maybe last May, when we expanded our new business, or since September 21, 2013 when we bought a batch of equipment and started a new business.  Or maybe I has been this hectic since we moved "off the mountain"  Or maybe it was when we moved "up ON the mountain"  Could it have been the day we said "I Do"  That we DID?  Who even knows.  We just know that we stay very busy.

Today, however was a bit different, and quite hopefully it is the beginning of a new normal.  A normal involving "having a margin around our weeks.  The idea has come from a Bible Study that I just completed with my young adults class.  It is called Breathe,  If you are interested in more information about it let me know.

So, for the last 5 weeks we have been studying about the importance of the Sabbath and a Sabbath rest.  (the margin I spoke of)  Today we talked about other ideas for how to tune out the URGENY of our culture to see and do the IMPORTANT things of God.  We go into the sanctuary to begin our service.  I forgot to bring my Bible today so I was in the process of trying to bring up the Bible ap on my phone to be prepared for our sermon.  To be perfectly honest, at first my Facebook page came up and I looked at it.  The second post was of Jonathan's cousin, Bud, paddle boating with his family, Brady and Brooklyn,  where?  Up in Ruidoso!!!!!!!  I quickly showed him the post and we went on with our sermon, which was great by the way.

As soon as church service was over, the three of us jumped in the truck and headed up the mountain, leaving messages for those on the mountain to see just where they were.  The short version of the story is that we met up for some of the best fun we have had in quite a long while.  We explained to the rest how I saw their post (gasp) during church (can you believe????)  and here we were. We all agreed that this was an appointment that was just supposed to happen.  Lunch was at the Irish pub up there, which I can highly recommend the food.  It was just the ticket to sit out side on their deck to eat.  The conversation was easy and fun.  Stories of childhood that I had never heard before, stories of more recent days, getting to know Brady and Brooklyn a little bit better and generally catching up on work and life.

After we all said our goodbyes for this trip,  we parted ways.  Them to go back to their hotel to rest after a big day and us to wander around town looking in a few shops for a couple of hours, just to be out, walking and spending some time together.

Now, that we are back in the valley, I realize that I really need to go back to carrying my camera with me all the times like I used to do.  I know that I have my phone, but it just isn't the same for me.

The rest of the evening is being spent lounging peacefully while watching an old black and white movie and then off to sleep, to be ready for tomorrow.

The Margin around this weekend did not include the laundry I needed to get done, nor the dishes that are usually a priority for Sunday.  I didn't get any extra cooking done to prepare for my week or any of the rest of the things I usually do on my weekends, but today was such a blessing, I wouldn't trade it.

Thank you, you guys, for allowing us to horn in on your vacation, I hope we spend many more meals together over the years.

Back to my Bible

Several years ago when there were some stressful things going on, someone I thought was my friend made a suggestion to me.  She suggested that every day I read one chapter of  the Psalms a day and one chapter of Proverbs.   I did it for a long time but as time goes on I quit.  This week I heard a preacher say that his morning Bible Study consists of the chapter of the Psalms and Proverbs but also a section of the Old Testament and a section of the New Testament.

I had started on the first of the month with the chapter of Proverbs and Psalms but yesterday I added in the chapters of Old Testament and New.

Todays readings then were Proverbs 5, Psalms 5 Genesis 2 and Matthew 2.
Lesson learned:  Did you know that the Garden of Eden was only a small section of the world at large?  And that Adam was created OUTSIDE of the garden and then placed there?  But Eve was created INSIDE the garden.
Genesis 2:4  When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens-and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up for the lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground- The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living thing.  Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden, and there he put the man he had formed  And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground.......

Not sure what all this means but I find it interesting that the rest of the world was a desert.  Any thoughts to share?
